(Day 5 – Second Morning Session)
Understanding the Freedom of God’s People
in their Services of God
Rev. Ken Igbinedion
1. Any minister who steps up to minister comes under an unction. There is an unction to function. We should not see anyone in the flesh – a man can be a husband to a woman but when he comes up to minister, he is not just a husband but a minister and should be seen as such.
2. The enmities against Christ have been heightened and it is still going to get higher. There are people today who do not like to hear, ‘Son of God’. They only want to relate with Jesus as a prophet, not as the Son of God (1 John 4:3).
3. The understanding must dawn on us to know that Satan hates Jesus. Satan saw God putting things He aspired to be on the Lord Jesus – He saw someone receive all his aspirations without Him (Jesus) aspiring for it.
4. There is a contention; what was started in the Garden of Eden was an introduction to the fight. Satan prevailed and won over Adam and took things from him. For years, all that had to be Adam’s, connected to him, and flowed from him was under the dominion of Satan until Jesus came (Rom. 5:19).
5. When Jesus came, it was time to fight the first half of the battle; because the first battle was fought in the home of Adam (the Garden of Eden where God put Adam), the second battle had to be fought in the home of Satan, so Jesus took the battle to Hell. It was in Hell Jesus defeated and destroyed the dominion of Satan and collected the keys, authority, and powers from Satan and declared that all authority both in Heaven and Earth now belongs to Him (Phil. 2:10, Gen. 2:8; 15).
6. Satan does not keep laws – he is a lawless person, he is not bound by righteousness. It is God that is bounded by righteousness, it is God that keeps law. Satan has a sweet mouth to deceive people. Everyone Satan uses is for His own gain; to further His kingdom.
7. The things we are reading in Hebrews were not just written last year, it has always been there but we will not see these things in the Scripture if the Lord does not shine His light on it and when He shines His light on it, He is excavating it for the benefit of the Body. If there is no understanding we will not live. It is important for us to know that there is an enemy, things are happening and the fight is to stop us from coming into understanding. And we must all join hands to fight anything that will make us not understand (Ps. 119:144).
8. Faith gives the opportunity to hear again and again. We should not resist the Holy Ghost because we do not understand – this is part of the problem in the Church and Satan keeps fanning (encouraging) it because He understands that the life of it (the words being declared) will come because there is understanding (Rom. 10:17). When we begin to understand then we start seeing – we do not see until we understand. A man gets born again to see the Kingdom, that is a man gets born to understand the Kingdom (John 3:3).
9. The birds of the air come when there is no understanding. Birds of the air are evil spirits - birds of offense and most times they do not possess people but afflict people. That is why they are spirits of the way; they stand in the way to ensure nobody continues but we must continue. If we believe, we will continue (John 8:31, Matt. 13:3-4).
10. The people in Jer. 6:16 dared to reply to God that ‘they will not walk therein’. There are all manner of ways crafted in our souls but there is a way God wants us to walk in. When we walk in a good way, we find rest for our souls. These people who responded are not unbelievers, they are supposedly children of God, and if they will not walk in the way therein then it means that they are out of the way (Heb. 5:2).
11. It is not about what is right by our standard but what is right by God's standard. It is not what we want but what God wants. Jesus also came to the point where He had to relinquish His will (Matt. 26:39).
12. All the armors of God are at the front; they are not supplied for the back. Our brethren are to watch our backs. Satan could not break into the camp to get Jesus until He got someone from the inside who could identify Jesus because all the disciples looked alike. Satan needed someone who was an insider but the insider did not know that he was supposed to be the armor at the back of Jesus, so he sold Him (Jesus).
13. Unity is very key because the High Priest is being hindered by our disunity. Satan knows that He cannot stop the Church as a movement but He can determine what kind of Church that will not be a threat to him. For instance, the early missionaries who brought Christianity and the Bible to Nigeria, and showed us how to worship left the way because of the forces of darkness.
14. Jesus is the owner of the Church. He proclaimed ‘I will build My Church and the gate of hell will not prevail’ because He knows exactly what to do to mature all of us. Our passion and love are not equal to His own, He was the One who loved the Church and died for it. None of us can die for the Church – regardless of our passion, we cannot die for the Church. There is Somebody who loves the Church.
15. Christianity is supposed to be a movement and not a monument. We are on a journey and nobody is framed to be what he is supposed to be at the end from the beginning– it is a process of making. Brotherhood is very key in this battle. We should have sincere love and stop being suspicious and reading meaning into actions. We should understand that all that the gate of hell wants to do is to stop this journey.
16. We should understand that Jesus's death did not cover the sins we will commit tomorrow but provisions are made available for the sins we will commit tomorrow (1 John 1:8-9). But it does not mean we should continue in sin because there is provision.
17. That a man is preaching does not mean he is saved. If the Lord is waiting for everyone to be perfect before this message can be preached then there will not have been any man to preach this message. God gathers men who have imperfections - who are still on the way, then He entrusts things to them because they have resolved to follow to the end, and while they are busy saving others, God is also saving them.
Practical messages that help you come into proper revelation and help you walk in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ
