Receiving the Substances for Overcoming

by the Ministry of the High Priest

 Rev. Helen Oyegoke

1. The matter of the High Priest is exciting and His job is to raise us to be like Him. It is beautiful that there is Somebody who is so high and then wants to raise us as high as He is. The High Priest that we have is set; He did not set Himself, Somebody (God) set Him. These Heavens we refer to in Heb. 8:1 are not the present Heavens. These present Heavens will pass away, but where He is sitting is beyond these heavens; He is a Being of the world to come. This High Priest is continuous - He has the power of an endless life (Heb. 7:26). There are many high priests, but they are not allowed to continue by reason of death, even by the laws that framed them - carnal commandments (Heb. 7:16).

2. The laws that made the priests under the priesthood of Aaron are unprofitable because they could not beat death and could not bring life. What made our Lord Jesus are oaths and not carnal commandments. The High Priest who is forever is a Man; He was not born a High Priest, He was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, but He was raised by God the Father by His substances until He was set  (Heb. 7:15-22).

3. Our Lord Jesus was taken from among men, He is a man that was raised - He was built (Heb. 5:1). Jesus Christ was raised a little lower than the angels, but He grew until He became Christ. Thereafter, the Father took Him and began to teach Him judgments. A christ is the only person that can take judgment of everlasting life from the Father. Therefore the making of a Priest is in giving of judgment.

4. The High Priest is in a place of glory; from there, glory emanates. From Heb. 5:4-6, we see that the High Priest is the same as a Son, even a Son of the Most Holy – a Son who has transited from the realm of men into the zone of God. A Son is an heir of all things. This class of sonship comprises He who has inherited all things. What made Him are all things of God. Jesus wants us all to become everything He became; He inherited those things for us.

5. He is set at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty, and He is giving us an invitation (Rev. 3:21). He overcame as a Man, meaning we also must overcome. This Throne is His Father’s Throne, and He is set because He overcame. What will make a man to be set down on the Throne of God, such that He can promise other men to sit also? It means the right hand of the Majesty is not for Him alone, it is for us all. That one Man made it, shows that we all can make it; if we also overcome, we will be permitted to sit on His Throne. He is made our High Priest so that He can get us to where He is set.

6. Every man has the destination to get to where He is set, but not every man will be able to engage what He is giving that will make them overcome. Heb. 5:1 – These men are not carnal men, they are men who have been exposed to the doctrine of Christ, led by the Spirit of Christ, obeyed the truth that is in Christ, and Christ has been formed in them. They overcame the world and broke the laws of sin and death by obeying the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus, but that is not the end of the journey because they can be tempted and turn back. Anyone who has the ability to turn will not be set on the Throne because, in the order of the Throne, there is no shadow of turning nor variableness. These men escaped the pollution of the world through the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Nobody overcomes this pollution with the sense of knowledge, they have to come to the knowledge of a person (2 Pet. 2:20). What makes us free is the truth that is in Jesus (John 8:32).

7. Rom. 8:1-2 – A man who has been made free from the law of sin and death are the ones referred to in Heb. 5:1 as men. When we obey the truth that is in Christ, we are vomiting the world that was in us (2 Pet. 2:22). As the doctrine of Christ comes to us and we obey, we vomit the world. It is in Christ that we are sanctified. As we do (obey), we are being washed (1 Cor. 1:30), and that is where we become a man, but we are not yet sealed; we can still fall back. As long as we can still turn back, it means we are not done.

8. We need the ministry of the High Priest who will bring substances to us, even substances that are incorruptible, undefiled, and unfading. Mere men cannot take these substances, they belong to the Incorruptible and Everlasting God. The reason for this is to take us from being men who can turn back. When we go through the syllabus of the Living and the True God, we become sealed and unable to turn back. The High Priest does not go back; He is sealed. God made Him so. The men in Heb. 7:25 are sanctuary men, they have partaken in some level of holiness. There are levels of holiness; there is the holiness in the Holy Place, but the holiness of the High Priest is the holiness of incorruption. Those referred to in 2 Pet. 2:20 were made holy in the Holy Place, but their holiness was not incorruptible and that is why they could turn back.

9. The High Priest was made - the making of God (Heb. 7:26). The other high priests were also made, but with substances that were unprofitable – inferior substances. But this High Priest inherited superior substances – things of His Father, and those things made Him holy, harmless, undefiled, and separate from sinners. Men of the sanctuary have sins – they are still sinners (Heb. 5:1). The things that made Him are the things that holy (christ) men can take. He started speaking these things in Heb. 8:1 from chapter 1. God wants to communicate to us what He used to make the Son (Heb. 1:1-2). This Son was appointed heir of all things; He being appointed is that the Father taught Him all things, which things He used until He overcame. There are many things created, but those things do not add to a man.

10. The things which a man possesses are things which perish and will pass away (Luke 12:15). These are things that do not add to man’s essence, but Satan broke man down until he began to chase after things that do not add to him - things that perish. In our battle to the throne, we will have to battle with things – to battle with things created. One good thing about preaching is to create faith in us for the invisible so that we can place a premium on things not created (2 Cor. 4:18). This is where there is war; the place we have to overcome. Satan will dangle things before us, and we will have to overcome them. We need judgment; we do not know what is good until judgment is given to us (Heb. 5:13-14). We need strong meat from which the High Priest is ministering for us to come to the place of choice where we choose the good. Satan has made man run after deception; run after evil and forsake the real good. That is the area of our warfare - we need to be dead before we can choose the good and refuse the evil (Isa. 7:15).

11. The evil is something that we do not know is evil; one can even curse God for calling it evil. The soul has learned the wrong thing and has been attached to it. The wrong things include an ambition to become – to become a renowned man. Most people tag seriousness as being ambitious for the Earth – there is a way a soul can be so attached to becoming something on Earth than to become something from what the High Priest is officiating which is also an attainment/achievement but men do not want this because the world does not celebrate it. We should do well in school, but our major ambition in life should be to become like the Son of God. Blindness is what makes us rate earthly attainments higher than what God has ordained for man. What brought about man glorying in such things is blindness and a man can live all his life like that except God helps him.

12. God is offering us something better that will alter our essence. We can be born again and speak in tongues, but if understanding does not break on us, we can chase those things. A man can gain the whole world and lose his soul; then, he has gained nothing. He has not profited, rather he has been robbed. The whole world will pass away; thus, gaining it is gaining nothing (Matt. 16:26).

13. Jesus was made an heir of things not created. These Heavens in Heb. 1:10-12 are not the Heavens where He is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty, these Heavens are the works of His hands. This is what Satan has deceived man to look for. But what made the Son like this are what He inherited - what He was made the heir of; that is also what God wants to make us – a man who will remain, who will abide, and who will not change. This Person being referred to is the Son of God – a Man who became the Son of God. On the basis of the things He inherited, He became the heir of all things. That is why His priesthood will not change. That is the essence of the gospel – to raise men who will endure, remain, and not change.

14. Angels have everlasting life of a particular level, but not the kind of everlasting life God is offering to us, and that is why it was possible for Lucifer to turn. But the men God will raise are not the kind that will turn and change; have an ambition to get to a place where you will not turn, any man that falls short of this will regret it eternally. This Earth has been given to us to alter our person and essence, and it is by the grace the High Priest will give. It will take a war to inherit these things – a war between choosing the Life of God and what the devil has already offered to man which is what man is seeing by reason of the fall. The everlasting life is the overcoming life, but in Eternal Life, there is nothing to overcome. We must have overcome and have become incorruptible, undefiled, and men that fade not away, then shall we be qualified for the Tree of Life (Rev. 2:7). Jesus the High Priest is holding substances of overcoming and He is administering them to us by speaking. God is speaking to us by His Son.

15. The High Priest is speaking the things of God. God made Him an heir of things which God has prepared for those that love Him and the High Priest brings the knowledge of those things to us which are communicated by speakings (1 Cor. 2:9-13). The things which He inherited, which He is speaking to us are the things of salvation (Heb. 2:1-3). The things that the High Priest has, is for salvation and for building. This is where we are raised and saved, and we inherit them by taking heed. Taking heed is not in just hearing the word but in doing the word. That is what we need to overcome.

16. We start with the Living and do things until we become True. These things that the High Priest has are things pertaining to God which are meant to raise us and change our genetic composition. They are meant for salvation, but one can choose not to prioritize salvation; Satan can dangle other things before us. To do things that are unseen, we need to neglect and forsake some things, even things that will influence the way people see us – their impression of us. God takes us through the meek and lowly path through those things. To be undefiled is to be holy, and we must be meek to be holy. A meek man is a holy man. Our ego is our unholiness; our value system makes us unholy. Sons of God are very low, but we do not attain that by merely reading the Scriptures.

17. A man can choose or reject salvation.  What we do with speakings will determine if we will inherit or not – these are speakings of righteousness. The Son handles everlasting righteousness which are judgments and high thoughts. Jesus passed through creation; He passed beyond creation by doing Heavenly things, judgment, and thoughts. We are taught to do love from the realm of milk, then we graduate to charity. When we get to charity, we graduate to a higher love. To be higher than the Heavens we should do high love. We are to obey the thoughts that are shown to us; they are high ways, and we inherit by doing. There is no inheriting except by doing. We should do Heavens. We should do exactly what the Son of God is bringing. He is the High Priest of good things to come (Heb. 9:11).

18. Everlasting life is invisible but it is our inheritance. We need to hear everlasting things until we can begin to look for them. We look for it until we can live for it, and we live for it until we can inherit it.
