The season of the activities of the High Priest is upon us, and this is because some people have journeyed to the extent where it is ripe for Him to finish what He has begun. God is set to adopt sons from the Holy place into the Most Holy. Jesus is the High Priest of Eternal Life, which is the promise of the gospel (1 John 2:25).
The reason we were born again is to partake of this Eternal Life, which is the very life of the Creator. The gospel is the story of a great love (Ephesians 2:4), that God has promised to give us His very life. Until we begin to comprehend the gravity of this hope, we may not understand what it means.
Titus 1:1-2 - Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; In hope of Eternal Life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
The elements listed in this Scripture are the things that precede the promise. The season of the High Priest is upon us because we are seeing the truth of Godliness which has been spoken to us for a while now. Although we have not perfected all that concerns Godliness, this next phase of teaching will help us meet up with the requirement and move on.
The truth that is after Godliness is the truth that can raise a Godly man, and one who has not become Godly cannot hear the voice of the High Priest. The stature of Godliness gives one ears for the High Priest; this is because the substances He comes with can only be interpreted by the Godly man, which is the spiritual man.
1 Corinthians 2:7 - But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
You cannot be glorified unless you have come to the image of the High Priest. The wisdom which is for our glory cannot be spoken to babes. The carnal man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:14); that is, he cannot receive the things of the High Priest. For a carnal man to receive the things of the High Priest, he needs to be raised into a spiritual man.
God who cannot lie promised us Eternal Life before the world began; this is the essence of the New Birth (Titus 1:1-2). Eternal Life is the promise of the gospel, and anything other than this genders to destruction. God gave His only begotten Son so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish (John 3:16). The phrase ‘should not’ implies that that man may perish, although God does not desire that he perishes, rather, that he gets Eternal Life; this is why Jesus came.
Thus, the program of God is to save man from destruction. Destruction does not imply physical death, but degeneration of your being; a man becoming like a beast, no longer looking and behaving like the man God created. For example, it is unnatural for a man to have sexual relations with another man; that is a degenerated estate of that man, and this also affects his body. In today’s world, men have fought for freedom to perform activities that are unreasonable, the aim of all these is to bring the heart to a state of saying there is no God.
John 10:10 - The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Abundant life is Eternal Life. The solution to the stealing, killing and destruction of the enemy is Eternal Life. Only the life of God can give man dominion over sin, and this is the reason we need the High Priest. The High Priest of Eternal Life is the first man to come into that Life; He is so qualified because He has the life of the Creator, and because He is the Son of God. Another name for the High Priest is the Son of God (Hebrews 5:5-6).
There are levels of Sonship, but the highest level is the begotten Son. At Jordan, Jesus was called ‘the beloved Son in whom I am well pleased’ (Matthew 17:5), but after resurrection, it was said of Him ‘thou at my son, today I have begotten thee’ (Hebrews 5:5). The levels of sonship attainment is dependent on the extent of acquisition of life.
A son is an heir of all things (Hebrews 1:2); meaning that Jesus has inherited all things of God, which are the things that made Him a Son of God. One thing we must note is that the High Priest inherited all these things for our sake; He is the High Priest of good things to come, which are the substances that makes Him up, they are God-substances.
Hebrews 1:2 - Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
The Son referred to here is the begotten Son, the High Priest; and God appointed Him heir of all things. The promise to overcomers is to inherit all things (Revelation 21:7), and we inherit them as they are ministered to us.
Romans 8:29 - For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
The image of the Son is the image of the High Priest. This is a calling for men to come into the same stature of the High Priest. He entered that estate to officiate for other sons who will come into the same realm.
Hebrews 1:4-7 - Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
Jesus was made a High Priest, He was not born a High Priest. He was made so much better than the angels by reason of the things He inherited, which is a more excellent name.
Hebrews 1:8 - But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
The Son is ‘O God’, and this is because He inherited the life of God – Eternal Life. Eternal Life is synonymous with God (1 John 5:20). The High Priest was made by the things He inherited. Therefore, without things, without substances, we cannot be made. The whole essence of the Christian race is to train men to relate with things. Although the time of the High Priest is upon us, not all believers can relate with the things He has to offer, because they must first be raised.
After the New Birth, the Holy Spirit introduces milk to a soul to train it, and this training teaches the soul to rely upon substances that are not natural. In milk we are trained to have faith towards God, and faith has substance (Hebrews 11:1). This faith teaches the believer to rely on that which is not seen. It trains the soul to believe God in difficult situations.
The soul of the believer must undergo this stage first because at this point, the believer cannot yet receive the things of the High Priest. The carnal man cannot receive the things of the Spirit, but the substances in milk will help him grow into being able to receive meat and then strong meat (Hebrews 5:13-14). Therefore, we must not take lightly our dealings in milk.
Some men take only the letter of the Word, without allowing the soul to capture the substance, and so they are not able to receive from God. It is the substance of the word that forms faith. Faith comes by hearing; the substance is formed/received by teaching. The continual hearing of faith leaves a deposit of God’s word which brings to reality the desired result (e.g. healing, needs). So, first allow the word of God to come to your soul and leave that deposit (i.e. the substance), then get up and act on it; then you will receive what you desire.
1 Corinthians 3:2 - I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
The milk of the word of God is first given to make the soul learn that it can live by the word of God (Matthew 4:4); yet the goal is Eternal Life. Paul fed the saints in Corinth with milk through teaching; faith (in this milk level) has its level of responsibilities and instructions, which must not be compromised. No matter the attainment a man comes into by reason of the use of milk, he is still unskillful in the things of God, he is a babe, the matters of the High Priest cannot be given to him because they are not for babes, but for sons.
High Priesthood is access; Moses had stature and access to God by reason of the things he learnt of God. God taught him ways, but the children of Israel were taught acts (Psalm 103:7). The realm of the High Priest is the realm of strong meat, and to get to that realm, one must have graduated from milk to meat. At this stage, They begin to bring substances for change, to raise the soul from carnality. Through milk, the soul has learnt to rely on the invisible to have needs met; likewise, when meat is given, the soul learns to rely on the invisible for change.
Romans 1:17 - For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
‘Living by faith’ means having one’s life controlled by the revealed word. The revealed word is the substance of Christ (the spiritual man); and His substances are given by hearing the word of faith. This hearing comes by the revelation of Christ. Christ has substances that configured Him. The essence of the faith of the Son is to reconfigure the soul and to configure Christ in him. When the substances of Christ delivered to the soul are well profited with, the soul gains access into becoming spiritual and Godly.
2 Peter 1:3 - According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Jesus came to give us life more abundantly; but abundant life is not achieved until life is first gotten. As a man becomes Godly, he is being quickened (made alive) in his soul. This happens as he receives things that pertain to life and Godliness, which are ministered by the faith of the Son, for his change. Change is growth.
Life and Godliness are received by understanding the laws in Christ Jesus; they come as instructions and commandments. A babe in the realm of milk cannot bear these laws and instructions, but a soul in the realm of meat is able to bear them by obeying them for change. Believers who do not do well in milk will not excel in the word of righteousness; they will be sluggish.
Substances are required to scatter the arrangement man is made up of. Every man is made up of things. We are products of our environment, upbringing, relations, family arrangements, culture and lifestyle. All these are removed by the substances in Christ Jesus, hence He is called our sanctifier. He cleanses and washes the soul from those things; but this takes a long period because it is dependent on the willingness and yieldedness of the believer.
Ephesians 4:20-21 - But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
In the allocation of Life and Godliness, we hear Christ, as ‘the truth is in Jesus’, meaning that the truth framed Him. When He instructs you, He is doing so in the same manner He was framed, so you can also be framed to inherit Eternal Life. However, to inherit Eternal Life, you must also interact with the substances of the High Priest. A carnal man cannot hear the things of the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:14). He must first make use of the truth that is in Christ Jesus as it is preached to him, for change.
Titus 1:1 - Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
‘Acknowledging’ here means aligning with the truth that is after Godliness. This truth, which is in Jesus, is aimed at raising a Godly man. Godliness is not religiosity, or piousness, but possessing properties of God which are delivered by the truth. When this is accomplished, such a man can hope for Eternal Life.
Therefore, the believer is first raised into being Godly before substances of Eternal Life are delivered to him. God is pleased with the Godly man and sees him as one who can take His things, having used the faith that is in Christ Jesus. The faith in Christ Jesus is to raise a man into being Godly, so that he can hope for Eternal Life.
2 Peter 1:3 - According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
There are things that pertain to life and Godliness. The Christian walk is aimed at making man relate with things, things that are not seen, things that can make a man eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18). Truth is Eternal.
When a Godly man is raised, the High Priest comes and begins to communicate with him, bringing His substances, for the purpose of framing him into His same stature. The substances of the Creator can only be communicated to the Godly man, which is a man who has perfected charity.
1 Peter 1:22-23 - Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
The word of God which lives and abides forever is the word that begets. However, this word does not come until we have fulfilled the commandment of loving one another fervently.
James 1:21 - Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
We must receive the word of God with meekness; a meek man is a man of stature. The realm of incorruptibility is the realm of super meekness, and to get to this level of meekness, the soul must obey truth. The soul must be meek to submit to the laws of Christ and without such meekness, it cannot obey Christ till the end. To obey Christ, that soul must be willing to die. Meekness is the key to making progress in Christ. A believer must increase in meekness till he is able to receive the engrafted word that can save his soul (James 1:21).
The realm of the High priest is the realm of the engrafted word. And only concerning such meek men will He be able to say, “I will declare thy name to My brethren, in the midst of the Church will I sing praise unto thee” (Hebrews 2:12).
