Excerpts

Seeing Jesus is vital. Once we see Jesus, we achieve everything; but we can be with Him and not see Him. The disciples of Jesus were with Him for a long time, but they did not see Him. They asked Him to show them the Father, though they had been with Him for long. He expected that they would have seen the Father through Him. We trust the Lord to help us see the Father so we can worship Him.

John 14:8-10 - Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

1 John 3:8-9 - He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

The abiding/incorruptible seed is the seed that cannot sin. This level of sonship is very close to the sonship of glorious liberty. It is close to the sonship of immortality. One having the incorruptible seed cannot sin because he is born of God. The seed of God is the genetic code of God. All the while, we have been handling the word of God but we have not handled the genetic seed of God that carries all God’s nature. The purpose of the incorruptible seed is to undo sin permanently.

Several problems came in as a result of the fall – the problem of sin, the problem of death and the problem of hell. The devil sinned and he engineered these entities. Before we transgressed (i.e. before the fall), we never knew anything about sin.

God never said to Adam that when they ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they will sin; rather He said they will die (Genesis 2:17). This means that as at that time, sin, death and hell were not yet empowered. The devil may not have created these entities, but I believe it was he who empowered them. If there were no sin, disobedience would not mean anything but since the presence of sin, when you disobey, you enact the law of sin.

Sin comes with lust (James 1:14-15). Sin must be in existence for lust to have power. The strength of lust is sin, and the strength of sin is death; they operate together. At a time, sin existed but it did not reign; and it took time for sin to reign. Men had to disobey for a long time for sin to gain ascendancy, although it had a tendency for ascendancy.

Sin is a thronic spirit; it is not just something you commit. Hell is a spirit, apart from the fact that it has an abode. Death is a spirit also; it kills the spirit of a man first, before his body, then the man dies. Sin is an entity, hence it can reign; it can be fostered and can regenerate itself and bring forth fruit. It is an entity.

Darkness is also an entity, a kind of life. Light also is a kind of life. Darkness is an entity not visible to the human eye but lived by men. Men love darkness because to them, it is beautiful (John 3:19).  It is as we interact with the Bible that we see that darkness is bad. Generally, people do not see darkness as bad, they love it. They do so because in another sphere, darkness is seen as beautiful and to be desired.

Since we got born again, God has been introducing us to the word of truth, but this word is not the incorruptible seed, and therefore it cannot fully take away sin. The essence of the incorruptible seed is to take away sin permanently. Anyone who has the incorruptible seed is a son of God and is moving close to immortality and eternal life (1 John 3:9). Thus, it is a must that we bear that incorruptible seed. This is the major focus of the epistle of John, to ensure men bear the incorruptible seed.

1 John 2:1 - My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

The reason for writing the epistle of John is so that we sin not and this estate can only be achieved when we bear the incorruptible seed. Therefore, all the churches at that time were to bear the incorruptible seed, as that was the only means of dealing with sin. Jesus Christ destroyed sin by bearing it on the cross and nailing it; but He did more than that, He destroyed death.

Each time you see the Son, His appearance is to do something; to deal with something. He does not just appear without a reason (1 John 3:8). Therefore, sons are meant to destroy works of the devil, i.e. works that the devil has crafted.

Everything expressed in the level of dominion is a work. The devil also works. He is a very skillful and determined worker. He knows all the steps to lead men through till they are no longer able to recover themselves. He is skillful and has understanding of all those terrains; but lacks understanding of the sphere of death.

Death is a complex being. Therefore, since man died in the garden, there have been arrangements to deal with sin in a way, although not completely until Christ came. The law was an attempt to deal with sin but none of those arrangements could tamper with death. Death had dominion since Adam and reigned over all (Romans 5:14).

Death reigned over all because sin still gained ground. Except sin is dealt with, death cannot be touched. Sin brought death; so it must be dealt with first. Hence, Jesus Christ dealt with sin on the cross and went further to bring forth life to deal with sin and even beyond that deal with death so that men can reach into the realm of abundant life.

Jesus brought life and immortality to light through the gospel (2 Timothy 1:10). Thus, through the gospel, you must experience life and immortality. In view of this work, God raised Jesus to the level of glory which He is now. Jesus knew what He had to deal with, and so God helped Him not to glorify Himself at the realm of other sonship manifestations He operated in.

At Jordan, Jesus did not glorify Himself, rather He obeyed righteousness. When John the Baptist refuted that he should be baptized instead, Jesus disputed saying that the key thing then was to fulfill righteousness (Matthew 3:14-15), so we see it is a righteous demand. Therefore, God used the occasion of such a commitment to announce Him (Matthew 3:16-17). Jesus knew that He was in sonship, and had completed a phase of obedience, yet He was depending on righteousness to judge His obedience. So it suffices Him to fulfill all righteousness. Part of that righteousness was to come under the baptism of Jordan.

Jesus could have gone ahead of God to announce Himself as the Christ. He already had some disciples before His experience at Jordan. Recall that when a disciple was to be taken to replace Judas, the requirement was that the person had to be one who had been with Jesus right from John’s baptism till His ascension (Acts 1:21-22) yet He did not announce Himself, but obeyed that righteousness (baptism).

Jesus had a measure of anointing, but He needed someone to witness Him, because He will not glorify Himself. And as He rose out of the water, heaven opened and the voice came forth. From Jordan to the Mount of Transfiguration, Jesus never glorified Himself. Even when Peter called Him the Christ, the Son of the living God, He did not glorify Himself (Matthew 16:16). He charged them to tell no one because the statement was not for publicity, it was a revelation (Matthew 16:20).

So we see that Jesus was able to reach that pinnacle because of the level of discernment to know what was at stake. Jesus knew man and the problem of man. Everything that could have looked attractive to Jesus never caught His attention, because He was not seeing them, rather He saw the glory ahead, yet His focus was not even on the glory but what God will do through that glory.

Hebrews 5:5-6 - So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.  As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Jesus’ priesthood is important because of us. It is interesting that He ascended and was taken into glory, but if He did not become our High priest, then we have no hope and if that is the case, although He conquered death, death will still have power over the children of Abraham and it is for the sake of the children of Abraham that He partook of flesh. Jesus did not need flesh, He came and partook of flesh because we are in the flesh, and there was need for Him to navigate the pathway for flesh to ascend to God. Thus, He must take His ascension in the flesh, and deal with sin, death and hell and liberate us.

Hebrews 2:14-15  - Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;  And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Discerning Jesus Christ at this level leaves me wondering what manner of man He is. He is a man, not just that He is God, He is man. To be in the flesh is like a curse because of what flesh is subjected to. There are all manner of forces that rule over flesh. Ordinary buying a car can mean so much to flesh; that is how much man has descended.

God never wanted man to descend so low to flesh yet one member of the Godhead chose to identify with flesh, He chose to descend to flesh, raise flesh, and cause flesh to be glorified. Therefore, all that is seen in the strata of sonship is the demonstration of God’s wisdom of ascension.

1 Timothy 3:16 - And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

God manifest in the flesh is Christ; this was God’s first appearance and it is a mystery. No one would think that God would appear in the flesh. This was the first trouble of satan, God appeared in flesh. When Christ appeared at Jordan, Satan knew trouble had come. He knew He was a Godly man.  Being born of the incorruptible seed is a vital pathway into glory.

1 Peter 1:4 - To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Our inheritance is reserved in heaven. No man has ascended to heaven i.e. no man has accessed the incorruptible seed. Men might have ascended, but their ascension is earthly, they could not break forth into heaven. Therefore, the best of them John, the Baptist is an earthly man and speaks of the earth. All that he did was of the earthly realm (1 Corinthians 15:47). If you cannot access the Divine seed, you are earthly; because that is the seed of hope, that is the seed that can generate the full-blown son of God and that is where the full manifestation of eternal life is housed.

The incorruptible seed is kept in heaven; although it is higher than heaven, it is just a place for keeping it for now. The incorruptible seed is God’s seed, so it is higher than heaven. Hence, when heaven and earth passes away, the sons that are products of that seed will remain, because they are higher than the heavens. Thus, only one man has ascended and the reason being that there is a veil that limits man from ascension.

Hebrews 2:8-15 - Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Jesus Christ took part in flesh for a simple reason – flesh must deal with death. Where the devil brought man to is flesh, and God has chosen that flesh will finish it. God has designed a wisdom on how flesh would take down death. God would begin by first raising flesh.

The devil brought death into being and has used it against all men, even though he himself died. Even Aaron the High priest was subject to death, this limited the operation of his priesthood; because death was higher than the law, and the priest of the law – Aaron. Thus, death continued in its reign.  Death is not just sleeping in terms of falling down and rising again; death is what makes it impossible for any creature to connect to God.

The creature fell and so was in need of salvation, but except they are raised above death, they cannot be saved. They are still under the bondage of death even if they stop sinning, it is not enough. They have not moved to the realm where they are fully free – referred to as the glorious liberty  - to serve God and do His will.

Thus, death is a limiter, a condemnation and a curse. It is a throne that enforces his rule. Whatever sin gives to death, death has a way of making it irrecoverable. That is why hell becomes a partner with death, hell keeps it. Death and hell go together, they are two servants.

The reason for the High priestly ministry of Jesus, apart from dealing with sin, is to show the mystery of abolishing death in men through His death; so that men can have access to God and truly be saved. Until men have access to God fully, they are not saved; because only God is safe, God is salvation. A man that does not have access to God is not safe. He may last but along the line, something will happen that will set in corruption. Therefore, he must have power to save, and that power must reign and influence his life. His life must be able to spread like the life of God spreads across creation.

Creation waits and groans for the glorious liberty of the sons of God (Romans 8:21), when this liberty comes, sons will experience life and give it to others (John 5:26). Thus, the Son can give life to whoever He wills.

The Father judges no one and has committed all judgment to the Son (John 5:22). If you reach the Son, you will reach God in the Son. The Son will not receive anyone without taking him to the Father; that is the way their life operates. God has given that sovereign will to His Son, to give life to anyone as He wills.

Jesus Christ did not just die on the cross, He went through death (Hebrews 2:14). Death is a curse. Death has a code of life that no creature can demystify it. Whatever you cannot demystify rules over you. For instance, a computer virus has a code, there are people who code viruses, they also code antivirus and sell them. The virus is free, just like sin. Sin is free for all, but the wages is death.

One of the mysteries of eternal life is the ability to demystify death. The life of Jesus Christ can demystify sin. When sin reigned, righteousness also reigned through eternal life (Romans 5:21), and through this reign, holiness is set in motion and so Christ cleanses from sin. The need for the divine seed is to ensure that sin is not reversed. The life of Jesus deals with sin, but eternal life is needed to deal with death. Jesus did not just die; else death would have power over Him. Rather, He submitted to death, so that through His submission to death He can know death and then deal with it.

Death is swallowed up in victory (1 Corinthians 15:54). To swallow up something means to eat it up, utilize it, and annihilate it. This means that the template of death was unwind. Death can be unzipped; Jesus unzipped death so that all the codes of death are revealed. Jesus knows the code of death. Our High priest did not just rise above death; He knows death and because He knows death, He can destroy it.

Death itself has not been annihilated completely, else the Scripture will not say, ‘death is swallowed up in victory’. Death is yet to be taken away from existence (1 Corinthians 15:26). Hence, Jesus Christ, the High Priest of life is the only one with the code of death. Obeying Christ is to open you up to understanding the mystery of death. It is through obedience that He writes in us the code that demystifies death. If Jesus had not done that, death will still be a torment for man.

For the apostles, martyrdom did not mean anything to them, because that kind of killing was not an expression of the power of death. Jesus had already shown to them how by death, they should glorify God (John 21:19). In that arrangement (martyrdom), He gave them the strength to demystify death, thus, after that death; death no longer had power over them, because they already showed dominion over death through their lives; not just by dying of martyrdom but by obedience to Christ. They obeyed Christ and disobeyed death; thereby they disarmed death. It is not the martyrdom that was the actual victory over death but the following to obey through.

Hebrews 5:5-7 - So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.  Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

Saving is not to escape death, as we see that Jesus cried for salvation from death and the Scripture tells us that He was heard, yet He died (on the cross). If He was heard, it therefore means that something was given to Him.

1 John 5:14 - And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

When we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. This will does not refer to things within the realm of this life e.g. car, house etc. It refers to the things that are kept/reserved for us. If we ask according to His will, He hears us and this means that we have what we have asked. This means that His hearing us is to release something to us, so, for Jesus’ petition to be heard by God means that there was a life to be given to Him that He did not have before. This life is what was needed to demystify death. To demystify death is to know death. There is an understanding of life needed to know death; this is what He received when He was heard. The substances of immortality and incorruptibility are products of answers to cry.

Romans 8:23 - And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

We will not be clothed with immortality if there is no groaning. There must be a cry desiring to leave the state where we are presently. There must be a groaning beyond the level of overcoming sin. There must be a groaning to leave the level where we are. Groaning is the prayer pattern of those who are seeking for adoption. The Spirit of adoption is to facilitate groaning in us. Groaning is because there is a higher state to attain; there is something that must be overcome. Death cannot be overcome by living the regular lifestyle.

Everyone that is born of God has an experience. He who does righteousness is born of God. A doer of righteousness is a son of faith. He may not be perfect yet, but righteousness has become his vocation; he is a son of faith. Jesus did not glorify Himself because He knew that there was a phase ahead He was longing for. Though He was a Son, He had to await the declaration from God. God raised Him from the dead and showed Him to creation, including the angels, and they worshipped Him. He was higher than them. He waited for God to show Him.

Acts 1:3 - To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

After His resurrection, Jesus showed Himself to His disciples in many ways. This crystalized the reality of the experience in them so that when they preached the resurrection, they did it beyond any doubt. It was not something they assumed, but something they had related with. In the same way, God wants to show us the realm where He wants us to come into so that we can have desire for it and begin to relate with it until we catch the birth pangs. No son is born without birth pangs (Isaiah 66:8). If there is no birth pang, the child will not be born.

At every level of obedience, God must bring us to a place of receiving grace to engage for desire for the next phase. For Jesus, His desire was that death must be destroyed, it must not remain a mystery, and it must not continue its reign. Death does not only kill; it has torment, it has a sting. The sting of death is a poison that cages the soul from experiencing the joy and pleasures of salvation. There is joy that comes to the soul when it is saved (Psalms 16:11). There is a place of eternal pleasures, which death prevents the soul from enjoying. Jesus’ conflict was not just with death as in dying on the cross, but as a spirit; death is a spirit.

Hebrews 5:8-9 - Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Jesus’ going through death made Him a perfect (complete and full) Son. Some are sons, but they are not complete. Jesus is the brightness of God’s glory and the express image of His person. It was in the process of His going through death that He was made; He was made into another being. He was not the same person after going through death; thus, He became the author of eternal salvation and can save to the uttermost.

Being able to save to the uttermost does not just mean that He is able to save into the innermost part of our being; but that He can save to the uttermost of degradation, He can save to the uttermost of destruction and save to the uttermost of hell and death. He came to destroy hell and death.

This is the level of Salvation He brings to all those who obey Him. Obedience is at various levels – obeying doctrine to deal with the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2). The law of sin is different from sin; likewise, the law of death is different from death.

The same way having the law of God does not mean you have become a God, but it is a trigger to push you into becoming, in the same way, you cannot become Christ unless the law of Christ has been put into you. The law of Christ tutors us to become Christ. At various levels, we have obeyed doctrines and teachings and have learnt obedience (Ephesians 4:20-21).

Romans 6:17-18 - But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Obedience makes one free from sin and then servants of righteousness. It takes obedience to doctrine or light to free a man from sin.

Romans 8:1-2 - There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

There is freedom from the law of sin and death. Sin is a law that has trained men. Men do not just do sin; they do it by a program. Thus, they need to deprogram that law; this is done by granting the soul access to doctrine. Hence the need for a higher law; only a higher law can deactivate the law of sin and death.

The law of Christ is greater than the law of sin, God be thanked, we can be consoled that if we have the law of Christ, the law of sin in us is dealt with. All we need to do is obey that law, and the power of sin and death is broken but it takes time to receive that law; one has to keep on hearing.

Jesus authoring eternal salvation requires the obedience of those who are being saved (Hebrews 5:9). This is not referring to obedience in the sense of opposite of disobedience because what we are dealing with is not ‘sin’. What made Jesus perfect is what men will obey; referring to sons of perfection. You can obey at the level of the law of Christ, and not be able to obey at this point. There is a strong conflict at this place; this is why Jesus offered up prayers with strong cries and tears.

It is this place He got to when He went into the garden of Gethsemane. He even had to take His disciples along and requested that they prayed with Him. Jesus needed some measure of agonizing/travail, which He felt His disciples would assist Him in building up but it was the hour of darkness and the powers of darkness were allowed to operate. It was a time when God allowed darkness to operate.

The best of Peter was boasted while there was still light. He boasted using the grace of Jesus and felt nothing could happen to him, he did not really know darkness. When darkness set in, they were dead with sleep; they could not utter any prayer (Matthew 26:43). Jesus came and found them asleep.

Jesus knew that just one disobedience could terminate the whole program. It was a short night, but a dangerous one, it was like crossing the Jordan. It is when the children of Israel are to pass through Jordan that it overflowed its banks; thereby making crossing difficult because the pathway of the water cannot be known. That night for Jesus, was a night of the swelling of Jordan. He came back the second time and found them asleep, He was disappointed and pleaded with them to help watch with Him. He was in dire need for their assistance, because of the terror of that night; something had to be broken through that night.

Heaven sent help to strengthen Him. The agonizing was so much as to bring forth sweat that was thick as blood.

When that season was over, and those who were to arrest Him came, the first step Peter took was in the flesh. He had just woken up from sleep and acted in the flesh. He could not pray an hour but had strength to cut off a man’s ear. He cut off the ear of the high priest’s servant (Matthew 26:51), not knowing that his master was going for the high priesthood, and that realm cannot be achieved by cutting off one’s ear. That time is a time of total surrender to the will of God.

Through that night of His agony, energy was born for Jesus to align to the will of God. This same energy took Him through the cross and beyond that to hell. For two nights, He could stay in hell. He went to the house of hell to deal with hell. Hell is a spirit and cannot be dealt without going to hell.

Hell is a spirit and can ride horses (Revelation 6:8). Jesus gave them that authority because He has the keys of hell and death (Revelation 1:18). Having the keys of hell and death means that He has understanding of them. Having the keys of the Kingdom is understanding the Kingdom. Jesus having the keys of hell and death means He held the mastery and mystery of hell and death. Death and hell riding horses was not of their own power; Jesus gave them the power because He needed to use them. Jesus used all the horses in Revelation 6; it was He who empowered them.

Jesus came to that sphere by mercy. It is only mercy that can give that level of strength to access grace. He tasted death by grace. There was a measure of grace that was ministered to Him, different from what He previously had. Grace is in phases. There is a measure of grace that comes with the gift of faith, which the receiver does nothing to receive but there is another level of grace you cannot access without knowledge (2 Peter 1:2). There is a grace that comes with the infilling of the Holy Ghost; all the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit are expressions of grace but when it comes to a time of formation, grace of learning is needed.

Titus 2:11-12 - For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

There is a grace that can lead to salvation. Thus, one cannot access more grace without more learning. Therefore, anytime you pray for grace, they take you through experiences that would make you acquire more knowledge. Grace that is imparted has already been received; now you must acquire grace by learning.

The grace that Jesus needed at this point was the grace to know death. It was by grace He tasted death for everyone. Whatever He acquired then, He had to be able to transfer it to us. Therefore, we are not breaking into what He did, He already did that and what He did, no other person can do it. Men did not know death, they made allegiance with it. But there is grace that brings salvation; it is the grace that made Jesus taste death; this grace was released to Him with agonizing; strong desire and strong pressing. This was what Paul always desired and prayed for.

Philippians 3:10-11 - That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

If a man is raised from the dead, he is not free from death. There is need to attain to the resurrection of the dead. Paul used the phrase, ‘if by any means’, meaning he was not sure, this attainment was not easy. For Paul to use this phrase, it tells us the gravity and hence the purpose of pressing. These men were not just beating the air; playing religion, there were issues ahead to be confronted. Stay with God in fellowship so He can build you to confront things, because some things must be confronted.

The good thing about the whole issue is that the key to death is obeying Jesus. Although obeying at this level is not easy, hence, the need for the High Priest. One of the job of Jesus as our High priest is to give help and succor. Succor is companion that give grounds for things to happen when you are with Him and obeying Him.

The measure of grace needed to walk in this realm is high, although the period is short. There is need for abundance of grace. The grace that could make a man taste death; attempting to eat what is attempting to eat you. If you do not have grace and you venture into the realm of death, that’s your end.

One main job of the High Priesthood of Jesus is to succor us, i.e. help us (Hebrews 5:9). This help is not just to give you help, but to be your help. There is a difference between a help and a helper. Your wife is your help; your maid is an helper. The wife is your help because she is an integral part of your person. She is connected to you and supplies to you.

In the time of salvation is the time of support. The acceptable time is a time of hearing; but the time of salvation is a time of granting. Sometimes, God makes us intercede for matters, not because of the matters in themselves but to build our capacity for intercession; so we can receive grant. Thus, when understanding is given to you, it is not really in how much one has prayed in that moment but by reason of experience, years of use of the skill (intercession).

2 Corinthians 6:2 - (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

The priestly work of Jesus for saving us in this dimension is loaded in that succor. He comes to intertwine with our spirits and help us through. Therefore, obedience at this point is a must and it is a sacrifice that must be paid. They would have dealt with our alienations before now so that we can learn how to stay with Him in obedience. Obedience at this stage is not just obeying in but obeying with Him.

Recall that before Jesus got to this point of agonizing, He was already a Son (Hebrews 5:9). This therefore means that those who He wants to succor here are sons. Although they are sons, they can still give up because of hardship/distress.

Romans 8:35 - Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

These are weapons of assault that can make a soul burn out and yet there is more – death, life etc.

Romans 8:38 - For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

These are no longer situations but entities/stature/beings, to prevent one’s entrance. Life here is not eternal life; but other forms of life and it can also be the life one had before. They can use one’s lower life in Christ against your entrance. Thus, in their fight against the believer gaining entrance, they can use anything to fight against you.

At this point, not any kind of help is given. Recall Joshua when he was confronted by the angel of the Lord and was asked by Joshua if he was for them or against then, he answered, ‘nay’ (Joshua 5:14). The angel was there to advance the course of God in Israel. Thus, a situation may appear not okay for us, but if it will advance the course of God in our lives, we are to embrace it.

Jesus learnt obedience by the things He suffered
